Rohatsu Sessin at Blue Mountain Zendo
Monday December 9- Sunday December 15

Blue Mountain Zendo will host its first Rohatsu sesshin on the second week in December from Monday December 9 through Sunday December 15th.  Rohatsu sesshin commemorates Shakyamuni Buddha’s enlightenment. In the Gregorian calendar, Rohatsu occurs the same month as the Jewish festival of Lights (Chanukhah), the birth of Christ (Christmas), and the Winter Solstice as a time to look inward and rely on the inner light to clarify the basis of Mind.
All are welcome to sit as much (or as little) as time and intention allows. If you would like to join us, please write to and indicate when you are planning to participate. The zendo will be open to those not participating in Sesshin for the 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. zazen during the week. Additionally, all are welcome for zazen on Sunday at 10.10 a.m., as well as the dharma talk directly after zazen.
During Sesshin, the day will begin with zazen at 6:00 a.m. and end with zazen with final bells striking at 9:00 pm. The sitting schedule will include 40 min periods, three meals, daily morning talks, work period, stretching, three services daily, as well as student talks in the afternoon or early evening.
